Sacramento - Senator Andreas Borgeas (R-Fresno) addressed a joint letter to House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Bakersfield) and Representative Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) in support of proposed amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
The amendment would include $100 million for modernization and repairs to the China Lake Air Weapons Station which was severely damaged in recent twin earthquakes that struck the Ridgecrest-Trona region. The base provides thousands of jobs and is a critical asset to the national defense of the United States.
Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield), Assembly Member Vince Fong (R-Bakersfield), and Assembly Member Devon Mathis (R-Visalia) also signed on to the letter urging their support for the measure.
“Besides being the United States Navy’s largest landholding for weapons research, development, acquisition, testing and evaluation, the China Lake military base provides thousands of jobs for people and families in Inyo County, San Bernardino County, and Kern County. We hope that Congress will approve this measure to be included in the National Defense Authorization Act,” said Senator Borgeas.
