Senator Borgeas Responds to the Passage of the California State Budget

Sacramento – Senator Andreas Borgeas (R-Fresno) provided the following statement on the passage of the 2019-20 budget:

“Despite the historic budget surplus of $22 billion, this budget still includes more than $2 billion in new taxes on businesses and individuals.  The lack of restraint is disappointing to say the least.”

“While I support the investments made in higher education, emergency preparedness and wildfire protection, these programs should have been priorities from the start.”

“In good conscience, I cannot lend my support to a budget that continues to tax the middle class and hardworking California families.”
