FRESNO, Calif. – Senator Andreas Borgeas (R-Fresno) provided the following statement:
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the community of Ridgecrest and the surrounding areas impacted by the recent 7.1 magnitude earthquake.
California sticks together in times of difficulty. Thank you to the emergency responders from Fresno County/CAL Fire, Fresno Fire Department, Tulare Fire Department, City of Merced Fire Department, and Selma Fire Department. Shortly after one of the busiest days of the year for fire departments, they are still selflessly serving communities in need.
Caltrans and California Highway Patrol have cautioned against rock slides on Highway 178 and are asking motorists to slow down in the Trona area near the initial repairs until permanent repairs are made."
Remain vigilant by listening to your local news channels and tracking earthquake activity on the US Geological Survey (USGS) website: https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/.
