Sacramento – Senator Andreas Borgeas (R-Fresno) issued the following statement in response to the President’s signing of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA):
“The President’s approval of the USMCA is a significant win for San Joaquin Valley agriculture,” said Senator Borgeas. “This new agreement will benefit San Joaquin Valley farmers, farm workers, and the food industry for years to come. In 2019, Fresno County was ranked first in the nation in agricultural production, producing nearly $7.9 billion worth of agriculture. I am honored to represent some of the most productive agricultural land in the world.”
“I especially want to thank the President and our Central Valley congressional representatives for supporting this new agreement,” added Sen. Borgeas.
The International Trade Commission projected in April 2019 that the trade agreement would boost the economy by $68 billion and add 176,000 jobs in the years to come.
Last year, Senator Borgeas attended a signing ceremony at the White House with President Trump for two executive orders reducing back-door regulations on agriculture and small businesses. Senator Borgeas was a staunch supporter of Senate Joint Resolution 12 which urged Congress to approve the USMCA.
